Motorcyclists who love to write

In response to those of you who have replied to the question that we put out there (Looking for motorcyclists who love to write, we need articles for the site and you need a free membership!).

Thanks for the replies and those of you who got in touch.

The vision for the site is to create a global community of people who love motorcycles and everything to do with them.

So the approach is a bit different than a lot of magazine based sites where journalists or ‘industry experts’ write reviews on bike used in ways that the average joe will never either get the opportunity to use or in reality has little interest in. It will be more from the community upwards so sharing experiences on what really makes them get up in the morning and choose two wheels instead of four.

In terms of topics there is no limit; it’s down to the imagination and passion of what makes you ride a bike.

What we have been thinking on recently are themes such as:

Funny stories

Best routes and why

Events & meet ups

About your favourite bike, even if you don’t own one yet

As above though we are open to ideas

It’s not something deeply technical we are looking for; if I was to sum up the theory of the community I would ask a question to anyone who has not ridden a bike:

Why do most bikers when on a road wave to another biker coming the opposite way, someone they have never met and will never see again.

It’s a common passion and shared understanding of the freedom they enjoy.

That’s what we want to get across in any articles created.

So if you would like to write articles please let us know as we would really enjoy welcoming you to the site.

Thanks

What to get a biker for Christmas

What are you getting the biker in your life for Christmas, something they will really need to will it be the stuff of dreams?

Here are a few suggestions:

Something for those with no worry about budget:

A few things for the rest of us (and our bikes):

Or maybe instead of spending on others you could always just spend it all on yourself and give a box of chocolates to everyone else (to share) :}

You can also join www.ridebikelive.com and help build the global motorcycle community.

Back to Biking

Remember the days when you could just wake up then go somewhere? Just get on a bike and go, maybe meet some friends and go for a ride.

What happened and where did go? How to get that back?

It’s pretty common, getting back into biking. Where to start…

First thing is how long has it really been and how much has changed? Might be worth doing a bit of a reality check, You may not be as young as you were and the elbows down arse up position of a sports bike might not be the best idea.

Another thing is that technology and performance may have moved on, that 750 you used to own might be easily overpowered by 600s.

Should you just jump right back in a go for the size of bike you used to have, maybe it might be best to work your way back up again.

Here are a few ideas:

Reality check, what bike could you still manage to control?
What’s you budget?
What’s it for - fun, racing, commuting?

Why not check out your local dealerships, give them a try first, remember a cheaper offer 300 miles away is not always the best deal.

Look at the manufacturers websites, see what’s out there. Check out second hand bikes on classified sites.

You might even find the model of bike you used to have, now that would be great!

Looking For Motorcycle Stories From The Community

Thanks to everybody online for the launch of the site yesterday. Very encouraged by all the traffic, getting some great responses from South America and Europe.

Remember the goal is a global motorcycle community so sign up, tell your friends and help build the network from you local area upwards. The more detail you can add to your profile the faster people will be able to find you.

We are now asking online what further features would be useful on the site so join in the debate.

It’s a soft launch so as said before the membership will be free for a year for those of you who join up before December 31st 2011.

One of the things we are very keen to do is to get real life stories from everyone, the good the bad and the painful. Tell it like it is. Let us know if you have anything you would like to share and we will contact you.

Tomorrow we are going to discuss topics on building this motorcycle community from the ground up and some of the features we are thinking about.

Thanks the ladies and gents from www.thinkbikelive.com

Global motorcycle community launches

I would like to introduce you to a new site we have just launched; it is aimed at the global motorcycle community. Anyone who has an interest in motorbikes is welcome.

What makes this site different is that it is a community site, in other words you can create your own community on the site or join an existing one.

If you have an interest in one make of motorcycle or a particular modal then there may well be a group already set up, if not then why not set one up yourself and invite other to join. You could well end up talking to someone on the other side of the world with the same model of bike or similar interest as you.

The site allows you to upload videos and images and also to join discussions and forums. It also allows to create events, what this means is that your community, club or interest group can organize itself online.

As this is a community based site we also are trying to build up articles which maybe of interest to other members, why not submit your funny stories or images or just advise others about the best roads to ride on.

It’s not limited to road bikes, there are categories for racers, dirt bike, and if it has two wheels there should be a group for it.

We are offering free membership for 1 year to kick the site off; this is available up to 31st of December 2011 so sign up soon and help us build a global network.

Thanks from the ladies and gents at www.ridebikelive.com
